Banned Books Week

Every year, libraries around the country hold "Banned Books Week," which draws attention to books which were, or are, often banned from schools and libraries, books which over time have become considered important and even classics. It is a celebration of the First Amendment, which suggests that free and uncensored access to information or entertainment, even if disliked by specific groups, is vital to a healthy democracy.
