Got Talent?

Do you have a talent in graphic design or art? The Glendora Public Library needs your help!  We are seeking talented individuals to enter our contest and design a limited edition library card.  If your design is chosen, a Glendora Public Library library card with YOUR design will be given out to the Glendora community in the fall. You will also be awarded a $75 gift card. 

Entries must be submitted to and are due by May 5th, 2018.  Good luck! We look forward to seeing your artwork.

Artwork can be either digital or hand drawn.

All designs must include the words “Glendora Public Library."

Include in your design the keychain part of the card as well as the main card.

Resolution: 300 dpi at 100%.

Document Type: Saved as a tiff file.

Software: Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Quark Xpress, Corel Draw.

Size: Card – 3-3/8” x 2-1/8”  Key Tag – 2-5/8” x 1-1/8” (See "printable diagram" link above. No design is needed for the back of the card.)

Bleeds: Bleeds must extend at least ¼” beyond the finished die cut edge of the card.  Keep actual text of card at least 1/8” from die cut edge of the card or key tag. 

Font: Provide font information for all digital artwork.

Color: Colors should be indicated using the Pantone Matching System.  If PMS colors are not used, always provide artwork in a CMYK format.  CMYK coverage should not exceed 220%.  Providing artwork in RGB format may result in inaccurate colors when printing.

Non-Digital Artwork: If you are hand drawing your entry, please deliver your original to the Reference Desk at Glendora Public Library.

Limit one entry per person.

Entry must include first and last name, phone number, email and physical address.

Do not place your name on the design itself.

Upon submission of an entry, each entrant grants Glendora Public Library all rights to the drawing(s) contained in such submission and consents that such drawing(s) may be displayed and/or reproduced without limitation and without compensation to the individual submitting such drawing(s).

Judging Criteria

  1. Interpretation and the clarity of the mission of the library.
  2. Creativity and originality of the depicted mission.
    • All artwork must be original, previously unpublished, and free of copyright restrictions
  3. Quality of artistic composition and overall design based on the mission.
    • Appropriate use of color, design, image quality & technique
    • All design elements (e.g. headings, text and images/symbols) are highly appropriate, and fonts, sizes, colors and alignments have been well thought through.
    • There is an excellent relationship and flow between the elements of the design.
  4. Overall impression of the art.
    • Compelling and memorable content, message, or design
