Community Services Shining Star Award
The Community Services Department would like to recognize Kristie Esparza, PT Community Services Coordinator, as the Shining Star Award Winner for 2nd Quarter 2019.
Kristie joined the Transportation Division on March 16, 2018 as a Part-time Community Services Coordinator. Her primary duties included overseeing the City of Glendora’s public transit contract, providing customer service, compliance and reporting submittals, employee commuter benefit program, as well as supporting the management of the Active Transportation Grant for Phase 2 and 3 of the Glendora Urban Trail System. Kristie has consistently performed well above expectations for this position. Prior to my start, Kristie was the sole staff person responsible for managing the public transit services in the City.
Kristie also successfully completed the allocation request of $100,000 for performing environmental review of Phase 2 and 3 of the Glendora Urban Trail System. Lastly, Kristie, without formal training or support, successfully submitted the City’s report to the National Transit Database. This is a large undertaking involving coordination between various City departments, Metro, and the Federal Transit Administration.
I also want to note she is an exemplary employee. Usually when you start a new job you have a learning curve. Kristie made sure I was up to speed as quickly as possible. She was also eager to take on challenges and experiences, particularly related to transit operations and transportation planning. Kristie is indispensable to the Transportation Division and it is with great pleasure that I present the Shining Star award to Kristie Esparza.
