NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

GLENDORA CITY COUNCIL

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Glendora will hold a public hearing to receive comments from non-profit agencies regarding the City of Glendora’s intent to apply for the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Section 5310 Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities Program.

PROPOSAL:

The City of Glendora proposes to apply for the FTA Section 5310 Program Grant for the purpose of meeting the transportation needs of seniors and persons with disabilities where public mass transportation services are otherwise unavailable, insufficient, or inappropriate.  A public hearing is required to allow private non-profit agencies to demonstrate whether they are readily available to provide paratransit service.  “Readily available” is defined as “interested, willing, and capable of providing the proposed service at a comparable cost to the identified clientele, in the same service area, with the same hours of frequency, and at the same level of service.”  If non-profit agencies are not readily available to carry out the proposed services, then the City of Glendora becomes eligible to apply for the funding.
