California Survivors of Las Vegas Mass Shooting Can Apply To State for Help

Residents Eligible for Mental Health Treatment, Medical Expenses, Funeral, Burial, and More

The California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES), in collaboration with the California Victim Compensation Board (CalVCB), is encouraging California residents impacted by Las Vegas mass shooting on Sunday to contact their local Victim/Witness Assistance Center at CalVCB’s website or at 1-800-777- 9229.

Help is available for survivors of those who were killed, anyone who was injured or otherwise impacted, as well as their immediate family members.

Cal OES’s Victim/Witness (V/W) Assistance Program is designed to provide comprehensive services to crime victims/witnesses in each of California’s 58 counties.

As the major provider of direct victim services in California, the Cal OES V/W Program services include, but are not limited to, crisis intervention; assistance with filing victim compensation claims; assisting family with funeral arrangements; direct counseling/mental health services; and other assistance as needed.

CalVCBcan help pay for funeral expenses, medical bills, mental health treatment, lost wages and more. Applications are available on CalVCB’s website at

Survivors and family members are encouraged to apply now, regardless of whether or not expenses have been incurred. The application has two signature pages, one for the California program and one for the Nevada program. When submitting to this application to CalVCB, you will be applying to both programs, and CalVCB will work directly with the Nevada compensation program to assist you. Applicants do not need to fill out another application for Nevada.

More information is available at any local victim advocate for help with the application, or you can simply fill it out, print it, sign it and send it to CalVCB via fax or regular mail:
